After surgery, it is normal to experience swelling inside the mouth and outside of the face. This swelling typically peaks between the 3rd and 5th day before gradually subsiding. To reduce the swelling, apply ice to the affected area of your face for 15 to 20 minutes every hour until bedtime. There is no need to apply ice more than 24 hours after the procedure.
